Lyndon Barends was raised in a shack in Crossroads (where the 1976 apartheid uprisings took place). He was the first person in his family to complete high school and earn a university degree. Daniel Douman became Lyndon’s mentor and inspired him to push through his tough circumstances and to educate himself. This led to his MBA and finally becoming the business and community leader he is today. Lyndon Barends has played significant roles in diverse national projects from health care, children’s charity, banking, and sport. Among several other business roles, Lyndon Barends has been a Partner and still is a Director of Match world - a strategic sponsorship marketing company – and the newly appointed Group CEO of Primedia Sport. He holds Dip Personnel Management, BA (Psych & Soc), BA Hons (Development Studies), MBA and currently reading towards his DBA in Switzerland.
